The Rev. Randy Wall, president of the Western North Carolina UMRF chapter, told the national group's annual banquet that the keys to successful rural ministry are five "P's":
  1. Honoring the PAST;
  2. Working with cooperative PARTNERS;
  3. Serving with PASSION;
  4. Maintaining PERSISTENCE;
  5. Offering excellent PROGRAMS.

In addition to food and fellowship, the banquet honored two members, the Revs. Sharon Schwab and Ronald Williams, with honorary life memberships, and elected officers for the next quadrennium. Sharon is a pastor and district superintendent from the Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference. Ron is a pastor and former UMRF Bulletin editor from the Kansas East Annual Conference.

Officers are Roger Grace, president; Peggy Paige, vice-president; Deb Ketcham, secretary; Mollie Stewart, treasurer; Carl Ellis, membership secretary; Peggy Jeffries, spiritual director; Dave Karges, communications director; and Judy Hill, advocacy director.
